After I had my laser set up, I wanted to try my hand at designing my own pair. I opened up Inkscape and just started drawing out what I could.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0260.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-177\" title=\"Look of Disapproval Glasses\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0260-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0260-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0260-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0260.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While I still think that Tim did a much better job on his than I did on mine, when I put the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:19056\" target=\"_blank\">file on Thingiverse<\/a> it almost instantly obtained a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/boingboing.net\/2012\/03\/13\/3d-printable-look-of-disappr.html\" target=\"_blank\">attention<\/a>. A few people asked me if then could buy a pair, so I put the glasses up on an Etsy page for users to buy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0246_display_medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-176\" title=\"Look of Disapproval Glasses\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0246_display_medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0246_display_medium.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_0246_display_medium-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was probably the first time I had a run-in with this issue. I hadn&#8217;t thought about it at the time, but what I was effectively doing was stealing business from Tim Saylor. While I may have created the design of the glasses that I was selling, I was taking away business from somebody who had inspired me in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>This may be an effective business model, but it&#8217;s not something I agree with, nor is it something I would want to happen to myself.
