It pushes the boundaries of what my\u00a0laser cutter can do to\u00a0a flat piece of plastic. It features some of The Doctor&#8217;s greatest enemies on the sides, while showcasing the Tardis falling through spacetime on the front.<\/p>\n<p>Projecting images onto walls has become a staple of <a title=\"Lighted Sculptures and Lamps at The Plasmatorium\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plasmatorium.com\/product-category\/lighted-sculptures\/\" target=\"_blank\">most of<\/a> The Plasmatorium&#8217;s lamps. I was trying to play with the negative space while having the laser act like it was cutting lines, instead of just shapes. By putting the paths so close to eachother, the laser will have overlap on the plastic, and vaporize a larger amount from it&#8217;s path. Using that method allows me to create larger holes in the plastic without having to punch out little pieces from the end piece.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/7-300x231.png\" alt=\"7\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/7-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/7.png 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I created a spiral pattern, overlayed it onto the lamp face, then removed it from the blank piece. Once I had that, I simply put the Tardis on top of that, positioned it where I wanted it, then subtracted its shape from the spiral.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-651\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/8-300x231.png\" alt=\"8\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/8-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/www.plasma2002.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/8.png 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Creating the Dalek took a while as well. In this case, it just happened to be black acrylic.
